Catalog description

Section information text: This course introduces students to the concepts, history, and development of social welfare, social welfare institutions, and social policy within the United States. This course will provide students with a historical overview of the development of social welfare and the social work profession. The course is also designed to prepare students to examine social problems and to gain understanding of the social welfare system in the U.S. The historical progress of social work is explored in the context of social policies developed to address social problems in our civil society.
