Section information text: This course allows students to acquire substantive foundational knowledge of basic research concepts, which include examining qualitative and quantitative frameworks for inquiry and the ethical and social change aspects of conducting research. Students learn about research purposes, major research philosophies, the role of theory or conceptual frameworks in research, and alignment among key research components. Students engage in various learning approaches to demonstrate their conceptual knowledge of applied research methods in preparation for their doctoral study and problem-solving in professional practice. They engage in the practical application of writing and critical thinking, as they synthesize the relationship between research in their respective disciplines and the promulgation of social change, embracing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the learning experience.
