Section information text: The purpose of Residency 1 is to socialize beginning doctoral students into the Walden doctoral community of scholar practitioners. Topics include building identity as a scholar, research literacy and ethics in doctoral research, an introduction to Walden library, searching for scholarly research, developing doctoral reasoning and logic, scholarly writing and plagiarism prevention, and an introduction to APA style. For the required final assignment, there are two parts. For each seminar, students write a reflection, including key takeaways, list resources and skills learned, and answer two prompts per seminar related to the seminar objectives. For the second part of the final assignment, students create an Action Plan. Based on something learned in Residency 1, students choose one skill or area where they want to grow and write a SMART goal as their action plan.
