Section information text: This course reviews core theories of cognition and affect and their roles in human functioning. The course will review basic components of cognition including knowledge acquisition, knowledge representation, language and various aspects of thinking, and emotions. There is also a focus on the multi-dimensional and interactive characteristics of human cognitive and affective functioning. A specific emphasis is placed on theories and research bearing on how cognition and affect interact in important areas of human functioning such as emotional regulation, construction of reality, motivation, psychopathology and health.
