Catalog description

Section information text: In this course, students learn about environmental processes and the influence of human activities upon them. Students explore ecological concepts, population growth, natural resources, and current environmental problems from scientific, social, political, and economic perspectives. Students also become familiar with the scientific method. Applying course concepts, students engage in a range of practical assignments, such as an assessment of their ecological footprint, a comparison of developed nations vs. less-developed nations, an evaluation of water pollution sources, and an assessment of an area's air-quality compliance. Through this course, students gain a foundational understanding of environmental interrelationships and contemporary environmental issues.
