Section information text: This course introduces the student to the healthcare industry, its environment, and the day-to-day skill sets and knowledge required to fulfill a position as a medical administrative assistant. Students will explore a variety of topics related to professional behavior and communications; healthcare regulations; ethics; patient intake, processing, and education; daily operations; medical records and health information management; basics of health insurance, coding, and medical reimbursement; patient accounts and collections; and banking services and procedures.
