Catalog description

Section information text: In classrooms where every student thrives, educators understand the importance of relationship-based, culturally affirming, and proactive approaches to teaching and learning. They communicate verbally and nonverbally in ways that demonstrate respect for and responsiveness to the cultural backgrounds and differing perspectives learners bring to the learning environment. Educators engage students in motivating learning experiences that include critical and creative thinking, problem framing and problem solving, and integrating real-world learning opportunities into instruction. Building on this foundation, teacher candidates in this course study the critical importance of developing caring relationships and inclusive classrooms, infusing culturally responsive teaching, fostering student engagement, and practicing positive guidance.
