Catalog description

Section information text: Meaningful and engaging learning occurs when curriculum extends beyond the classroom to promote a climate for social change. In this course, education professionals will use a documentary case scenario to evaluate the use of service learning as a tool for connecting the curriculum to real-world experiences, while also supporting the community and its citizens. Educators will select an appropriate learner-centered curriculum model, design an interdisciplinary service project, and prepare a presentation for stakeholders’ consideration, illustrating the potential of service learning as a catalyst for bringing a learner-centered curriculum, citizenship, and standards to life.
