Catalog description

Section information text: In this didactic course, Adult–Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) students advance their knowledge and clinical expertise in providing comprehensive, evidence-based care to adolescent, adult, and older adult populations across the lifespan. Emphasis is placed on the assessment and management of acutely and critically ill patients, as well as individuals experiencing exacerbations of chronic health conditions. Students refine diagnostic reasoning, clinical decision-making, and care planning through the integration of pathophysiology, pharmacology, and health promotion principles. The course prepares learners to deliver culturally responsive, patient-centered care that aligns with current clinical guidelines and best practices in high-acuity settings. Course Sequence Policy: Must be the second DRNP (didactic) course. Cannot be taken concurrently with any other DRNP (didactic) or PRCM (practicum) course, except for the corresponding PRCM (practicum) 6557 course. Prerequisite(s): DRNP 6537
