Catalog description

Section information text: This course examines the advanced leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills required for effective public sector administration. Students will analyze communication failures, leadership styles, and crisis response strategies to understand how leaders influence organizational culture, stakeholder motivation, and mission achievement. Through applied evaluation of public agency strategic plans, sustainability and resilience initiatives, and technology‑driven solutions, learners will assess how public organizations design, implement, and refine strategies to advance public value and positive social impact. Emphasizing evidence-based decision making and agile project management, the course guides students in evaluating data limitations, policy impacts, and organizational contexts that shape administrative success. Students will create tools such as policy field diagrams, Triple Bottom Line assessments, and transformative action plans that integrate collaboration, ethical analysis, and adaptive leadership. This course is designed to prepare students to use transformative practices to lead strategic initiatives, address complex administrative challenges, and promote innovation within public agencies.
