Section information text: There is a variety of assessment types that professionals use in modern clinical psychology settings. In this course, students learn about these assessments, focusing on cognitive and personality assessments as well as other tests commonly used in clinical practice. They engage in a comprehensive examination of measurement theory and the psychometric properties used to develop and evaluate these instruments. Students also explore related topics, including normative sampling and standardization, reliability and validity, test score interpretation, and test development. Through assignments and discussions, students address ethical, legal, and sociocultural issues, including cultural bias and fairness. Professional standards for psychological testing provide a foundation for the course.
