Section information text: This course provides an overview of the spectrum of psychotropic medications and their use in the treatment of mental and behavioral disorders. Topics include the role of the psychologist in prescribing medication and the efficacy of combining medication and psychotherapy. The focus is on the treatment of depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive behavior, schizophrenia, and childhood disorders; other psychological disorders as described in the DSM-IV-TR are reviewed. (Prerequisites: COUN 6225.)
