Catalog description

This course emphasizes writing as students publish El Sol, Viterbo's Spanish newspaper. This requires students to interact with the local Hispanic community, conduct research, read and watch culturally authentic materials, prepare oral presentations, and compose several written pieces. By the end of the semester, students will reach the Intermediate High proficiency level established by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages. Students who complete a 305 or 306 as their first college Spanish class with at least a C receive 12 retroactive credits for SPAN 101 and 102, 250 and 251. Prerequisite: C or higher in 250 or 251 or by departmental placement exam.
