Catalog description

Students will apply intermediate level language skills with an emphasis on speaking and listening to discuss civic engagement issues related to the Spanish speaking world both in and outside the United States. This course will use culturally authentic audio, video, and text materials as well as guest speakers to expose students to current Spanish language practices. By the end of the semester, students will reach the Intermediate Low proficiency level established by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages. Students who complete 250 or 251 as their first college Spanish class with at least a C receive six retroactive credits for SPAN 101 and 102. Prerequisite: C or higher in 102 or 103 or by departmental placement exam.
