Holistic Health Assessment and Promotion Across the Lifespan

Catalog description

This course introduces health promotion and disease prevention strategies within the framework of person-centered care that supports health and health equity among diverse adult populations. Students develop the knowledge and skills to conduct comprehensive, culturally competent, and holistic health assessments that address physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural dimensions of well-being. Through guided learning and hands-on practice in the skills laboratory, students perform health histories and physical examinations, identify normal and abnormal findings, and apply clinical judgment to support mental and physical health. Ethical decision-making and the nursing process guide students in developing foundational competence for holistic and evidence-based nursing practice. Prerequisites: BIOL 114, CHEM 106 or 121, admission to professional nursing sequence. Corequisite: 222L.
