Catalog description

This course demonstrates the use of application of statistics in business environments to inform decision-making. The course focuses primarily on statistical approaches to summarize data and make inferences about a population based on sample data. Specific topics include graphical descriptions of data, descriptive statistics, hypothesis testing about means and proportions, hypothesis testing for differences in means among groups and simple and multiple linear regression. Course emphasis is on real world application, drawing examples from multiple business settings and sectors. This course makes use of Microsoft Excel so that students will be able to apply the techniques with technology that is available in most workplaces. QL
