Catalog description
This course is designed to provide teacher candidates with foundational knowledge in creating and maintaining a positive K¬12 classroom climate, resolving conflict, and utilizing behavioral intervention strategies for students with mild/moderate behavioral challenges. The course content will: (a) provide knowledge of behavioral technologies to support classroom teaching with diverse groups of individual students, including those with special needs; (b) detail research-based prevention and intervention strategies and explore equitable Multi-Level Systems of Support (c) provide an overview of behavioral assessments; (d) present strategies that promote attitudes for supporting and fostering the acceptance of all students; (e) and assist in the communication between the teacher and families related to classroom behaviors. Students in this course may require field experience hours and a possible field trip. Prerequisites: grade of C or higher in 150, 255 or concurrent.
