Catalog description

Semester course; 3 lecture hours (delivered online, face-to-face or hybrid). 3 credits. Prerequisite: TEDU 413 . Corequisites: TEDU 417 , TEDU 422 and TEDU 442 . The course’s design is centered on helping the Pre-K through grade six teacher examine the purpose of social studies education, the connections between the discipline of social studies and other curricular areas, and the persisting issues in social studies education in an equitable way for all learners. The course will introduce students to an integrative reflective planning process and a variety of instructional strategies and materials. Its ultimate goal is to prepare students to understand the role of the teacher as a reflective decision-maker.
