Semester course; 3 lecture hours (delivered online, face-to-face or hybrid). 3 credits. Prerequisite: MATH 131 , MATH 139 , MATH 141 , MATH 151 , MATH 170 , MATH 200 or MATH 201 or a satisfactory score on the VCU Mathematics Placement Test within the one-year period immediately preceding the beginning of the course. Introduction to the key concepts and techniques of data science and their applications in artificial intelligence. Students will gain practical skills in data wrangling, visualization, and machine learning using both R and Python. The course will focus on preparing data for AI-driven models and implementing basic machine learning algorithms. The course is designed for students with limited background in computer programming and is not applicable toward the B.S. in Mathematical Sciences.
