Catalog description

Semester course; 3 lecture hours. 3 credits. Prerequisite: SPAN 300 , SPAN 305 , SPAN 311 or a satisfactory score on a language placement test. Conducted in Spanish. Students will develop the ability to communicate orally and in writing with Spanish-speaking individuals in health care and health sciences settings. The course focuses on conversational medical Spanish, with topics ranging from general and specialized medical terminology used in different specialties and health professions, history-taking, review of symptoms, illness, tests and procedures, treatment, and the role of culture in health communication.
