Medical Interpretation.

Catalog description
Semester course; 3 lecture hours (face-to-face or hybrid). 3 credits. Prerequisite: SETI 420 or by permission of the instructor. Conducted in Spanish and English. Exposes students to the ethics, regulations and advanced vocabulary used in medical interpreting. Explores the range of accreditation bodies and history of national and international certification in the medical interpreter profession, with the goal of grooming students for careers in this field. Students who are bilingual, or can demonstrate requisite language proficiency through coursework in Spanish at the 300-level or higher, or by earning a composite Avant STAMP Assessment test score of "advanced" are encouraged to seek permission from the instructor to register for this course.
