Semester course; 3 lecture hours (delivered online, face-to-face or hybrid). 3 credits. The course surveys major Islamic debates on women and gender from the emergence of Islam to the present, examining sacred texts, legal traditions, and shifting interpretations. It traces Muslim women’s movements from the nineteenth century onward, highlighting key issues such as family law, veiling, feminism and female religious authority.
