Catalog description

Semester course; 3 lecture hours. 3 credits. Prerequisite: PHYS 202 or PHYS 208 . An intermediate level introduction to modern cosmology, including the observational and theoretical aspects of the big bang theory, the implications for the early universe physics, inflationary cosmology and possible fates of the universe. The emphasis of the course is physical and quantitative reasoning, using the information from astronomy, physics and mathematics.
