Semester course; 2 lecture and 1 laboratory hour. 3 credits. Enrollment is restricted to students in the professional Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Examines the theoretical bases for the use of biophysical agents in patient care. Emphasizes the physical and physiological effects, indications and contraindications for biophysical agents to provide safe patient care. Challenges students to critically evaluate the use of biophysical agents in relation to current scientific literature. Laboratory sessions will be used to develop safe hands-on and clinical problem-solving skills regarding the application of biophysical agents to patient case scenarios.
