Catalog description

Continuous course; 40 clinic hours. 1 credit. Enrollment is restricted to fourth-year dental students. Five days of clinic rotation. The course is designed for students to serve as primary caregivers for patients presenting with temporomandibular disorders, orofacial pain, and oral medicine concerns. Students will perform comprehensive evaluations, develop differential diagnoses, formulate evidence-based treatment plans, and implement or coordinate care, including appropriate referrals. The rotation emphasizes clinical autonomy, critical thinking, and readiness for general practice or referral-based management under supervision of attending faculty. Graded as CO in the fall and pass/fail in the spring.
