Human Factors, Human-Computer Interactions, and Consumer Informatics.

Catalog description

Semester course; 3 lecture hours (delivered online). 3 credits. Prerequisite: NURS 687 or by permission of the instructor. The course examines key aspects of human-computer interactions in healthcare information systems and provides a broad overview of current and emerging consumer-centric eHealth tools and technologies. Theories, concepts, and principles of information, communication, cognitive processing, human-technology interaction as they relate to the development, testing, implementation and evaluation of these tools are emphasized. Students will learn how to conduct a needs assessment with a focus on users, goals/tasks, the context and the technology, by learning relevant system design and psychological principles.
