Catalog description

Semester course; 3 lecture hours (delivered online). 3 credits. The course prepares nurse leaders to communicate and build positive productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders across the continuum of care. Emphasis is placed on relationships between organizational nurse leaders and other organizational departments, medical staff, schools of nursing, state boards of nursing and other healthcare service agencies within the community. Key principles of professional collaboration are examined including assessing interdependencies, consensus building, demonstrating mutual respect and cultural humility, establishing shared goals and managing conflict. Students will also enhance their facilitation, persuasion and communication skills to effectively engage with diverse lay and professional audiences.
