Catalog description

Semester course; 3 lecture hours (delivered hybrid). 3 credits. Prerequisite: NURS 660 or by permission of the instructor. The course examines the pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment of common psychiatric diagnostic categories across the lifespan. Advanced diagnostic reasoning approaches will be addressed. The course will cover treatment approaches to include a broad range of pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic strategies. The impact of mental health problems on individuals and society will be covered.
