Catalog description

Semester course; 3 lecture hours (delivered online). 3 credits. The course covers fundamental and interconnected theories related to employee motivation, individual and group behavior, job satisfaction, structural empowerment, occupational stress and promoting healthy work environments. The focus is on developing strategies to address common challenges in human resource management within health care including workforce shortages, retention and turnover, nurse staffing that is both safe and cost-effective, and addressing staff satisfaction and burnout. Additionally, foundational concepts in human resource management and law, performance evaluation, job analysis and design, conflict management, and fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion will be applied to real-world practice issues.
