Catalog description

Semester course; 3 lecture hours (delivered face-to-face or hybrid). 3 credits. Prerequisites: HSEP 301 , HSEP 302 , HSEP 314 . The course introduces students to simulation gaming, a commonly employed training strategy across homeland security and emergency management careers to improve preparedness for all variety of hazards. Students will work through tabletop exercises covering threats to national security and public safety as distinct as calamitous weather events, extremist violence, digital attacks and international conflict. In doing so, students will learn about decision-making, crisis communication, strategic planning and other activities that define the HSEP enterprise.
