Catalog description

Semester course; 3 lecture hours (delivered online, face-to-face or hybrid). 3 credits. Prerequisite: HSEP 302 . The course surveys the research, practice and policy relevant to disaster recovery and hazard mitigation. Students will learn about recovery planning, debris management, housing recovery, environmental recovery and inclusive disaster recovery practices. The course also covers hazard mitigation planning, climate adaptation and assessments of community resilience. Students will review structural and non-structural mitigation practices that help break the cycle of damage and repair in hazardous areas. Students may receive credit toward graduation for one of the following: HSEP 304 , HSEP 310 or HSEP 370.
