Catalog description

Semester course; 3 lecture hours. 3 credits. Prerequisites: HPEX 300 and 353 . Concurrent prerequisite: HPEX 355. Introduces theories, roles and skills that are the foundation for the professional practice of community health education. Emphasizes the growing significance of health education in preventing and/or treating health problems, health promotion and improving quality of life. Presents the historical evolution and development of the profession and the various settings in which health educators practice. Assists in the preparation of students for certification as health education specialists.
