Catalog description

Semester course; 3 lecture hours. 3 credits. Examines the development of computing, computers and artificial intelligence technology in Western society from the 19th century to the present. Focus on the development of theories of computing and specific technologies (mainframes, PCs, software, microchips, AI, etc.) as well as the rise of computing communities, such as academic computer scientists, hackers, computer hobbyists, gamers, bloggers and internet consumers.
