Health Economics: Theory and Principles.

Semester course; 3 lecture hours (delivered online or face-to-face). 3 credits. Introduces the foundational concepts and principles of health economics and their application to public health policy and decision-making. Course materials include research articles as well as selected pieces from the popular press to connect economic concepts to contemporary health policy debates. Upon completing the course, students will be equipped to apply economic reasoning to analyze health and health care policies, interpret empirical health economics research and assess where further evidence is needed to inform policy and programmatic decisions.
