Catalog description

Semester course; 3 lecture hours. 3 credits. The course introduces doctoral students to the fundamental tools of applied econometrics with a focus on health services research and health policy. Students learn to implement and interpret linear regression models for cross-sectional data using ordinary least squares under random sampling. Students are introduced to common HSR data sources and structures through empirical applications to develop practical competency in data management, econometric programming in Stata and the interpretation of results.
