Healthcare in the AI Era: Today and Tomorrow.

Semester course; 3 lecture hours (delivered online or face-to-face). 3 credits. The course explores artificial intelligence applications in healthcare, from foundational concepts like large language models and generative AI to specialized implementations. Students examine AI tools across healthcare contexts, including natural language processing, AI-enhanced surgery and robotics, telemedicine, mental health interventions and administrative functions like billing. Through case studies such as AI chatbot triage, students analyze how AI transforms clinical research and trials, enhances patient empowerment and impacts healthcare cost, access and quality. The course addresses critical issues of clinical responsibility and liability while exploring artificial general intelligence potential and future healthcare trends.
