Semester course; 2 lecture and 2 laboratory hours. 3 credits. Prerequisite: BIOL 300 , BIOL 310 or FRSC 300 with a minimum grade of C. FRSC 675 is a concurrent prerequisite for graduate students. The course is an introduction to forensic investigative genetic genealogy and will cover the intersection of its use between law enforcement, genealogists and forensic DNA laboratories. This powerful modern investigative tool is especially useful to establish leads for cases lacking a suspect, as well as those involving unidentified human remains. The laboratory component will focus on the use of online tools available for FIGG and conducting a mock FIGG investigation.
