Catalog description

Semester course; 1 lecture or independent study hour. 1 credit. May be repeated by permission of the course director and zero credits may apply toward graduation. Enrollment restricted to students enrolled in School of Dentistry degree programs. An elective course that explores leadership, advocacy and social change within the dental profession through interactive lectures and hands-on workshops. Students will engage in activities that prepare them for impactful careers in private practice, public health and organized dentistry, with a focus on ethical leadership and professionalism. Assignments include serving as peer mentors to first-year students and participating in community-based initiatives such as lobby day events with organizations advancing access to care. Regular check-ins and reflective exercises will support students in navigating their professional growth and civic engagement.
