Catalog description

Semester course; 3 lecture hours (delivered online or face-to-face). 3 credits. Enrollment is restricted to graduate students in the College of Engineering or by permission of the instructor. Practical, hands-on introduction to building and evaluating interactive AI systems. Students will progressively design, implement and refine an agent-based application using popular agent development frameworks. Topics include tool integration, memory and personalization, multi-agent coordination, human-in-the-loop feedback, explainability, trust calibration, multimodal processing, data annotation, evaluation metrics, fairness and mixed-initiative interaction. Emphasis is placed on iterative, build-first development, user interface affordances and evaluation methods for AI systems in real-world contexts.
