Catalog description

Semester course; 3 lecture hours (delivered online or face-to-face). 3 credits. Enrollment is restricted to graduate students in the College of Engineering or by permission of the instructor. The course offers a comprehensive introduction to the engineering of AI-based software systems, focusing on key concepts, methodologies and best practices for their design, development and maintenance. It covers essential topics such as requirements analysis, system architectures, machine learning pipelines, data validation, model validation, testing, fairness, ethical considerations and the deployment and continuous delivery of AI-driven software. Special emphasis is given to AI applications in healthcare, exploring domain-specific challenges and solutions.
