Catalog description

Semester course; 3 lecture hours (delivered online, face-to-face or hybrid). 3 credits. The course surveys applied artificial intelligence with an emphasis on the design, implementation and evaluation of intelligent systems. Topics may include heuristic search and planning, probabilistic reasoning, machine learning, generative and large language models, text and data analysis, and agent-based systems. Students focus on building end-to-end AI systems that combine reasoning, learning and perception components, and on evaluating their behavior under practical constraints. Ethical, societal and deployment considerations are examined as integral aspects of applied AI development.
