Semester course; 3 lecture hours. 3 credits. Enrollment is restricted to students with junior, senior or graduate standing in the following departments: biomedical engineering, chemical and life science engineering, chemistry, computer science, electrical and computer engineering, engineering dean's office, mechanical and nuclear engineering, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutics, pharmacotherapy and outcomes science or pharmacy dean's office; or by permission of the instructor. The course focuses on the structure-function characterization of proteins and the quantification of protein-protein interactions for the design of novel protein and peptide therapeutics. Additional topics include biochemistry of proteins for engineers, large scale, batch production and manufacturing techniques for biologics.
