Virginia Commonwealth University · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
Semester course; 2 lecture and 1 practicum hours. 3 credits. Prerequisite: CHEM 403 . The course will present cutting edge, biophysical-based techniques and methods as they are used in modern biological chemistry and related research fields. Background principles will be presented as well. Techniques include SPR, NMR, ITC, MST, computational methods, machine learning applications, protein design, among others. Principles will include protein thermodynamics, folding, structures, interactions and other background as required to cover the techniques. A series of hands-on demonstrations using computer based modeling tools will introduce practical experience with cutting edge computational methods.
