Catalog description

Semester course; 0-2 practicum hours (delivered face-to-face or hybrid). 0-2 credits. May be repeated for a maximum of two credits toward graduation. Enrollment requires permission of the instructor and a minimum grade of B in the course for which the student will serve as preceptor. The course provides undergraduate students with hands-on teaching and peer-mentoring experience in bioinformatics. Students will work closely with the course instructor to support course objectives through duties such as laboratory preparation, student mentoring, assignment feedback and other pedagogical activities. This experience offers valuable exposure into the practice, possibilities, rewards and responsibilities of teaching while reinforcing the student's own understanding of bioinformatics concepts. Graded as pass/fail.
