Semester course; 3 seminar hours (delivered online, face-to-face or hybrid). 3 credits. The course provides sitting and aspiring educational leaders and policymakers with the theoretical and practical frameworks necessary to navigate the transformative impact of artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies across the P-20 spectrum. Grounded in established technology leadership theories and a holistic, comprehensive framework of AI literacy, the curriculum begins by analyzing the profound shifts AI is driving in the global workforce and society. Students will move from demystifying the technical fundamentals of machine learning and generative AI to critically evaluating current applications in teaching, administration and student support, ensuring that innovation is always balanced with pedagogical value. Beyond technical implementation, the course emphasizes a holistic and sociotechnical approach to governance and organizational culture. Participants will utilize a multi-dimensional AI literacy framework to lead their institutions while addressing critical problems of practice, such as inclusive intelligence through Universal Design for Learning, data privacy (e.g., FERPA/COPPA) and algorithmic bias. By synthesizing ethical, legal and strategic planning perspectives, students will develop the capacity to formulate responsible policies and change management strategies that prioritize human-centric values and equitable access in an increasingly automated educational landscape.
