Catalog description

Provides an assessment of soil fertility and the alteration of fertility by use of fertilizers, lime, manure, and cropping systems. The role of colloids in ion fixation and exchange is addressed. Calculations for cation exchange capacity; fertilizer, lime, and manure applications in the field are emphasized. The history, technology and use of fertilizers and their importance to the abatement of world famine and malnutrition are discussed. Prerequisites: SOSC 242 Principles of Soil Science and CHEM 151 General Chemistry.
