Catalog description

Survey of the African American literary tradition from its earliest expressions to the present. Topics may include African American folklore, slave narratives, essays, poetry, drama, fiction, non-fiction, criticism, and the shaping of a Black aesthetic. Prerequisites: ENGL 110 or ENGL 112 AND ENGL 111 or ENGL 113 and for English majors, ENGL 203 .
