Catalog description
This course introduces basic concepts in operating systems. This course will be focused on process management, implementation of mutual exclusion and synchronization, deadlock and starvation, memory management, scheduling, I/O, and file management. Students will also understand how operating systems have developed historically and future trends, as well as shell command line usage in modern operating systems. Prerequisite: CSCI 287 Data Structures, CSCI 303 Computer Organization and Architecture.
