Catalog description

The fundamentals of embedded system hardware and software design will be explored. Issues such as embedded programming, firmware design, development tools, and host communication will be discussed. Microcontrollers will be studied through a series of projects using a microprocessor evaluation board. These projects will expose students to programming tasks to work with physical sensors (such as GPS, medical sensor, etc.) and write applications for smart phones, robots, unmanned vehicles and spacecraft. Prerequisites: CSCI 250 Programming II and CSCI 251 Programming II Lab.
