Catalog description

The study of a variety of film styles/genres such as westerns, musicals, melodramas, action, mystery, comedy, and horror. Focuses on themes, conventions, and narrative trends associated with particular genres, placing a strong emphasis on analyzing their influence on other film genres and on other forms of creative expression. Since the specific genres to be explored will vary, the course may be repeated for up to six credit hours as allowed by the department. Cross-listed as ENGL- 361 Film Genres. Prerequisite: COMM-302 or permission of instructor.
